Pokemon Characters at Holocaust Museum

Officials from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., and the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Poland are calling for Pokémon Go’s maker to remove the historic sites from the locations where players can hunt for characters. This would seem a reasonable thing to do. These museums are serious places and people shouldn't be hunting for Pokemon Go characters in such a formal and serious place. You would thing that common sense would prevail but then again, I guess we should never underestimate the things people are willing to do in search of their Pokemon characters. Officials say that there are Pokéstops in parts of the Holocaust museum. “Playing the game is not appropriate in the museum, which is a memorial to the victims of Nazism,” Andrew Hollinger, the museum’s communications director, told the Washington Post. “We are trying to find out if we can get the museum excluded from the game.”

Pokemon Go is Ending Relationships

The obsession with Pokemon Go has lead to strained relationships between players and their significant others. Players head out on their own in their spare time leaving their girlfriend or boyfriend behind if they have no interest in the game. Playing this game would seem like a fun thing to do together on a date. I could believe that there could also be new relationships formed as people meet and interact with the common interest in playing the game.

One site stated that a man was caught cheating on his girlfriend as she realized that he'd caught a Pokemon character at his ex-girlfriend's house. Nice detective work their if you ask me.

There has been positive things reported too as businesses have decided to cash in on the craze by offering special food and drink deals to Pokemon players. At least one place had created an alcoholic drink named after the game.

My fear is that it will only be a short while in all the frenzy about the game going on that we will soon hear of a reported death due to someone's negligence in playing the game. I hope not but I'm almost certain that it will happen.

Pokemon Go Crimes

Trespassing incidents have been linked to Pokemon Go. Three teenagers were stopped at Perry Nuclear Power Plant in Ohio as they trespassed while trying to catch the Pokemon characters.

Pokemon Go has already caused lots of warnings from police departments. “As you battle, train, and capture your Pokemon just remember you’re still in the real world!,” warned one police department.

Law enforcement agencies have already reported accidents, injuries and robberies where suspects have used the game to trick victims to go to places in order to rob them. Armed robberies of players have been reported in Missouri, New York and Maryland.

On the web one person complained that “Pokemon Go put me in the ER” in talking about the game. “Not even 30 minutes after the release last night, I slipped and fell down a ditch. Fractured the fifth metatarsal bone in my foot, 6-8 weeks for recovery. I told all the doctors I was walking my dog lol... Watch where you're going, folks!,” he warned fellow players.

One woman in western Pennsylvania that her 15-year-old daughter was hit by a car while playing the game and crossing a busy highway. The girl was reportedly hospitalized with an injured collarbone and foot, as well as cuts and bruises. I believe the video I posted here has a picture of her in the hospital.

Well you knew this would happen. People are not paying attention while driving due to playing Pokemon Go. There are numerous reports of people getting in car accidents while playing the game. Common sense should prevail here but of course that would be too much to ask of people.

Car accidents have already taken place all over as a result of the game. Texas A&M University Police tweeted that a vehicle struck an illegally parked car, noting that the “First driver had exited to catch a Pokémon.”

The following day a driver reportedly hit a tree while playing “Pokemon GO” in upstate New York. Police in Louisiana stated that an accident was caused by a driver that suddenly stopped in a roadway and was rear ended because the driver wanted to catch a Pokemon. Tow truck drivers in Louisiana have also noted an increase in calls as drivers have driven into ditches while not paying attention because of the game.

One girl was hit by a car, others fell off a cliff, and the list goes on and on. Enjoy the game folks but be sure to take care and don't put yourself or others at harm while doing so.
